Wild in Fields

As I stood holding a fan to a car full of flower arrangements, trying to preserve their beauty, I wondered about the life of a flower. A cut stem only has a matter of time before it's purpose has been fulfilled and then, it will be tossed aside. What was the point? I thought. A painter's canvas can be preserved for ages, photograph's live on forever, a florist's work is so fragile and truly experienced so briefly. But alas', in that moment I realized that the life of a flower is really something quite poetic. It once had a life in the fields; it lives to grow and lives to die, not unlike we do. Making art with a cut stem is like an ode to the life of a flower.

I am an aspiring floral designer, who has fallen in love with patterns, textures, and all things paper. I live in Portland, OR with my husband.
